Today in Camino at Home: Day 19 of the Camino Francés, 9.3 km to go to Hornillos del Camino.

Set off in a minute. Then just live your life.

  1. Connect Apple Health

Camino at Home reads the walking, running and wheelchair distance your iPhone and Apple Watch already count. Cycling too, at half, if you want it.

  2. Pick your Camino

Start in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port today, or up to a week back. The kilometres you have already walked carry you along before you even begin.

  3. Walk the way you always do

No logging, no streaks, no guilt. The dog walk, the commute and the long way to the bakery move you on, and each morning you know which town you woke up in.

The real Camino, one ordinary day at a time.

The Credencial with twelve Sellos from Roncesvalles to Burgos.

Sleep where pilgrims sleep

Every Stage ends in a real overnight town. Reach it and its Sello lands in your Credencial, dated the day you got there. No bunk beds, no snoring.

The route map near Burgos with the walked part in colour and the pilgrim's position in red.

The whole route, mapped for real

The path comes from OpenStreetMap and the Stages from the towns pilgrims actually stop in. Zoom in and see exactly where today's walk has put you.

The Health step with the switch to count cycling too.

Bike days count too

Pilgrims on bikes ride twice as far for their Compostela, so a kilometre in the saddle counts as half a kilometre on foot. It is off until you switch it on.

Arrival in Santiago after 51 days, the cathedral under the sun.

Arrive in Santiago

The last Sello is the cathedral. Share the poster, keep the Credencial, and pick the next road when you are ready. A morning note and a home-screen widget keep you company on the way.

Walk the whole Francés free. Pay once if you want more roads.

Questions pilgrims ask

I don't walk much. Is it for me?

Yes. A slow week is still a week on the Camino, and rest days are part of the path. There are no streaks to lose.

Is it the real route?

Yes. The geometry comes from OpenStreetMap and the Stages follow the overnight towns pilgrims use, so every number on screen is a real place.

Does my Apple Watch count?

Anything that writes walking, running or wheelchair distance to Apple Health counts: your iPhone, your Apple Watch and most fitness apps.

What about cycling?

Off by default. Switch it on and each kilometre on the bike counts as half a kilometre on foot, from that day on.

What does it cost?

The app and the Camino Francés are free. The Pilgrim Pass, which unlocks the other Caminos, is a one-time purchase.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Camino at Home is for iPhone.

Buen Camino!

Your first Stage starts with your next walk, and the last seven days already count.
